PM says Moldova stays fully committed to fulfilling conditions of Association Agenda with EU

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu and Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Angela Ganninger today had a meeting at the government. The officials exchanged opinions on the present social and economic situation in Moldova and the development of projects on the common agenda.  

According the government’s communication and protocol department, Ion Chicu said that, following the social and economic difficulties triggered by the pandemic crisis, the cabinet’s response to back the economy was the massive investment in infrastructure. This is the basic condition for attracting foreign investments and developing the business. In the context, the preparation of the Multifunctional Industrial Platforms is underway in Moldova’s districts. At the same time, the financial and banking situation of Moldova is advantageous for investors, as the country has a low rate of foreign loans.     

Another criterion for the international community represents the successful completion of the programme with the International Monetary Fund. At present, the authorities are at the final stage of signing a new programme with IMF. In another context, the sides discussed the organization of the electoral process. The PM specified that the government was doing its utmost to ensure the holding of the ballot with the observance of the sanitary norms, transparently and without the involvement of the administrative resources in the electoral campaign.   

The prime minister gave assurances that Moldova remained fully committed to fulfilling the conditions contained in the Agenda of Association with the European Union and implementing the necessary reforms. In the context, Ion Chicu thanked the German state for the continuous support provided to Moldova, including through assistance provided by the German Economic Team, as well as the support offered by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), which is an important in carrying out the reforms.
