Three districts from north Moldova might be supplied with Dniester water

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - More settlements from the northern Donduseni, Soroca and Ocnita districts might be supplied with water from Dniester. A project to this effect was submitted to the appeal on selecting regional development projects for the 2021-2023 period, with financing from the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR).  

The North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) has recently summoned in Donduseni a working group set up for the elaboration of the full application on financing for the conceptual note of the regional development project titled, Supply with water from Dniester river for 32 settlements from the Donduseni, Soroca and Ocnita districts.  

Along with representatives of the Donduseni district council and national experts, ADR Nord specialists discussed on the project’s conceptual note, at the appeal on the list of selecting the regional development projects for the 2021-2023 period, with financing from FNDR; the project is carried out by the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) and the conceptual note of the investment project was admitted to the Phase II of the appeal on list.

The sides involved in the project’s working out planned more actions specific for the project’s incipient stage. ’’If the project is selected for financing from FNDR, measures will follow to compile the tender book for the elaboration of a feasibility study, designing documentation, eligible costs from FNDR, creation of the regional provider of water management for the Donduseni, Soroca and Ocnita districts, developing the capacities of the regional provider created, informing and raising the awareness of residents about the need to regionalize the water supply service,’’ ADR Nord sources told MOLDPRES.  

The working group members also discussed the need of the financial contribution on behalf of the partner local public administrations worth 10 per cent of the overall value of the future project, as well as the need to assume the risks and ensure the sustainability of investments. The total value of the project is 50 million lei.

Within the appeal on list, ADR Nord submitted four project conceptual notes. Three conceptual notes were admitted to the Phase II of the contest. The overall budget planned in the case of three conceptual notes is of 100 million lei.
