About 103,000 COVID-19 cases registered in Chisinau since beginning of pandemic

Chisinau, 15 April /MOLDPRES/- About 103,000 COVID cases have been registered in Chisinau since the beginning of the pandemic and 1,750 deaths. Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban made the statement, saying that 500 beds are available in the municipal hospitals for patients with the new coronavirus.

Serious cases are still very many and there are still no free beds in the intensive care units, even if their capacity has been tripled. "We are seeing a community decrease in new COVID-19 infections. We see a declining trend in daily deaths, but we remain in an epidemiological situation of increased alert. Hospitals are provided with the need for medicines, consumables, and primary care operates with an extended schedule, including on weekends. From 19 April the Municipal Phthisiopneumology Hospital (with 150 beds) and the old maternity block from the Municipal Hospital Gh. Paladi (with 110 beds) will gradually get out of COVID circuit," said Ceban.

He noted that the medical institutions in the municipality are ready for vaccination process: the vaccination teams have been formed, 19 vaccination points are currently operating. Thus, for vaccination with the first dose, 34,580 doses of three types of antiCOVID-19 vaccine were distributed in the capital: Astra Zeneca, Pfizer / BioNTech and Sinofarm.

In total, until 14 April 30,494 people were vaccinated with the first dose in Chisinau, including 11,243 - hospital medical institutions and 19,251 people - primary health care. Only 28 moderate post-immunization adverse events with Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccine were reported at CSP Chisinau. Serious life-threatening cases have not been reported.


According to statistics, 243,365 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the Republic of Moldova so far.
