16:06 | 16.04.2021 Category: Political

Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s government is to get new powers as regards the international treaties. The parliament today approved a draft law to this effect in the first reading.

Under the draft, the document will contain two new components dealing with the enforcement of international treaties. Thus, the lawmakers propose to introduce the cabinet’s obligation to ensure the record of the international treaties, through ministries and other central administrative authorities or competent institutions, and to evaluate the up-to-dateness of the international treaties.

Also, the evaluation of international treaties will take place annually, which imply Moldova’s financial commitments for international and regional organizations. Following this assessments, the government will inform the parliament about the up-to-dateness, need and benefits of Moldova’s participation in treaties which imply financial commitments for organizations and will propose, as case maybe, the denunciation of international treaties which do not bring benefits to Moldova.

The draft is to be discussed in the second reading in the parliament plenum.
