Moldovan parliament speaker says problems from society must be presented objectively, correctly, independently

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today conveyed a message on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The message reads:

„Drear journalists,

On the World Press Freedom Day, I want to re-bring to everybody’s attention the importance of the free press for a modern society and a functional democracy.

For the problems which worry our society and which you approach to be settled by us, the authorities, they must be presented objectively, correctly and independently. Or, this is the role of a free press – to contribute to the economic, social and political progress through the honest word.      

The press had a crucial role in the prompt and correct coverage of the situation dealing with the pandemic. On behalf of Moldova’s parliament and on my own behalf, I thank you for the efforts made on this complicated period, as well as for all the work carried out in this important sphere.   

Congratulations, dear mass media representatives! I wish you good health, happiness and wellbeing!’’
