Another MP under ANI sight risking confiscation of property

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/- The National Integrity Authority (ANI) announced today that it has completed the wealth control procedure on an MP and established a significant difference worth about 770 thousand lei of goods in the declaration. ANI will demand the confiscation of unjustified property.

The control was initiated in late 2019, under an ex officio notification on late submission of the annual declaration of assets and personal interests.

The integrity inspector performed the control for 2016-2019, which was extended on behalf of the members of the deputy's family. During the checks, it was found that it failed to include information on salary incomes and nominal allowances in the total amount of over 53 thousand lei, an accessory construction in Molovata locality, Dubasari district, three real estates owned with the right of use by one of children, located in a town in the south of the Netherlands, including an apartment.

At the same time, the integrity inspector found the presence of a significant difference worth about 770 thousand lei, which significantly exceeds the ceiling allowed by law. The difference was generated by supplementing the budget of the deputy's family with financial means worth 38,850 euros, as cash deposits on the accounts held by one of his sons, at a bank in the country. The inspector noted that the possession of 770 thousand lei, deposited in August 2017 - June 2019 on the son's bank accounts has an unjustified character.

On this case, the integrity inspector ordered the confiscation of the unjustified property of over 770 thousand lei and notified the General Prosecutor's Office on false statements. If the ANI document remains final in court, the MP risks the ban on holding a public office or public dignity for three years, and will be set in the Register of Prohibitions.
