Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu welcomed the decision of the European Union to grant our country about 745 million lei, non-reimbursable aid. The amount is part of the 600 million-euro economic recovery plan, supported by the EU for the next three years, the presidential press service has reported.

"EU support comes after a long period of freezing of European assistance, caused by former governments. As we promised in the election campaign, we managed to relaunch the political dialogue with the European Union and resume financial assistance. The Republic of Moldova is gradually regaining the trust of its strategic partners. This European support is also a signal of encouragement for the new government team in its commitment to clean up the institutions, fight corruption and launch development programs in the country ", Maia Sandu said.

The head of state said that the money now provided by the EU will go to the state budget, for the most urgent needs, including the fight against Covid-19 and the economic support of the companies affected by the pandemic. "It is a significant help and we are grateful for it," Maia Sandu said.
