Priorities of Moldova's governance in economic digitalization sector discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - The subject of economy’s digitalization in Moldova today was discussed at a meeting of the press club for digital transformation, under the aegis of Deputy Prime Minister    for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu.

The event was organized at an initiative by the Electronic Governance Agency, jointly with the Economics Ministry. Deputy Prime Minister    for Digitalization Iurie Turcanu, Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu and the director of the Electronic Governance Agency, Olga Tumuruc, made a presentation of the most important measures undertaken by the governmental institutions in charge, in order to modernize the economy sector through applying technology and innovations in the digital field.   

The participants in the meeting were informed about the newest actions and decisions taken by the government, as well as recently adopted by the parliament, meant to stimulate the economy, encourage the electronic commerce, online payments, reduce the bureaucracy between the state and entrepreneurs, to simplify the number of documents demanded by the authorities, to give access to the online creation of business, to facilitate the getting of the electronic signature and change the way of providing public services from traditional ones, at desk, to electronic services, accessed online, through distance identification.   

In his opening speech, Iurie Turcanu said that the package of laws on the economy’s digitalization would revolutionize the way of state’s interaction with entrepreneurs. ‘’This is a good beginning of the economy’s digital transformation, the benefits of which will be felt by everyone. We will educate the society to consume as a priority online services and will oblige the institutions involved in the providing of public services to access documents in electronic format, just as the law stipulates,’’ Turcanu noted.   

For his part, Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu enumerated the ministry’s priorities for the next period. “The actions taken by the government, among which the digital legislative package 1.0, open opportunities for the society’s digitalization, an aspect which has remained partially in shadow because of the crises we face at present. Economic agents already have possibility to register and manage their business at distance and in the labour relations they no longer have to present signed holograph. Our country’s key advantage in the switch to the digital economy represents the well-developed IT industry, which already contribute 3.5 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and which has had a trend of increase in the last years. The IT exports reached 258.47 million dollars in 2020,’’ the minister specified.     

Among the digital novelties announced by Olga Tumuruc, there is the soon launch of an electronic delivery governmental service, MDelivery, the new mobile digital signature, MobiSign, a new platform of electronic accessing of front-office type state services, distance empowerments and other digital solutions on which decision-makers presently work and which lead to the creation of a sustainable framework for the economy, bring value added to the entrepreneurship and enhance Moldova’s competitiveness through more transparent, quicker digital interactions, in line with the international standards.
