Moldovan PM says time is ripe to invest more in cyber security

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - The National Agency for Cyber Security and the Cybercor National Institute of Innovation in Cyber Security have been launched at the first edition from this year of the event, Moldova Cybersecurity Forum. The institutions will have an essential role in the prevention and combating of the cyber threats.        

The forum was inaugurated by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Deputy PM, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba. The officials stressed that the cyber security was a priority for Moldova, the government’s communication department has reported.   

„Now that we have digitalized almost all services from Moldova, the cyber security becomes a quite important aspect. Time is ripe for us everybody, both as public sector employees and entrepreneurs and private sector employees and as citizens, to pay ever more attention to this aspect and more and more invest in the cyber security,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.       

The two new institutions, launched at the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum event, will focus their work on ensuring a safe digital environment, protecting the state’s critical infrastructure and the society from cyber attacks, as well as on guaranteeing a high level of security of the information networks and systems of the public and private institutions.      

The event was organized by the Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry, in partnership with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Technical University of Moldova and Tekwill, with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova and the e-Governance Academy.
