Chisinau, 15 March /MOLDPRES/ -Prime Minister Dorin Recean has unveiled  the report on the actions undertaken by the government on the period of the emergency state in the parliament’s plenum. The PM said that Moldova had faced numerous crises, which put a huge pressure on the state’s institutions, economy and the citizens.

According to the prime minister, the principal reason for the establishment of the emergency state was Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, the dramatic decrease in the gas supplies to Moldova, cyber attacks and the actions of disturbing the public order.

„All these represented direct threats to our state’s security, had serious humanitarian, social, logistic, food and economic effects and forced us to establish the emergency state starting from 22 October 2021 till 30 December 2023. Through the measures adopted by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) and with the support of our partners, we overcame the crisis situations and transformed the problems into opportunities of developing the resilience and of modernization of the state Republic of Moldova,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

Thus, due to the measures adopted by CSE, for the first time in the last 30 years, the right bank of Dniester did not use Russian gas and Moldova is synchronized to the energy system of the European Union. At the same time, the logistic crisis allowed turning vulnerabilities into advantages. On the period of the emergency state, including through CSE’s Instructions, the works of rehabilitation of important segments of railway segments started and new infrastructure projects began, which will enhance the potential of transit on the territory of Moldova and will create economic opportunities.

Also, the government, CSE and a large number of partners promptly intervened to protect the population – unprecedented sums were allocated to compensate the invoices for energy resources, as well as for maintaining the stability of prices and compensation of interests.

„Moldova has managed to become more resilient to the challenges coming from outside. Along with our citizens, we went through a difficult period and we have become stronger and now, together, we edify the European Moldova and contribute to the ensuring of peace and security in the region,’’ PM Dorin Recean added.
