Moldovan president awards Order of the Republic to North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall, on a working visit to Chisinau. During the meeting, the sides discussed crucial aspects of the relations between Moldova and the United States, especially the support provided by the USA for strengthening the democracy and the rule of law state. At the meeting, the head of state awarded the highest distinction of the state, Order of the Republic, to the American official, the presidential press service has reported.   

President Maia Sandu said that Elaine Folk Marshall was an outstanding person and a great supporter of Moldova. One quarter of century ago, North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall was pioneer of the partnership between Moldova and North Carolina, USA. This cooperation generated a lot of initiatives in education, agriculture, health and defence, bringing significant benefits to thousands of Moldovans.     

The United States continue to be reliable allies and valuable friends for Moldova. Maia Sandu stressed that the excellent relations between the USA and Moldova were grounded on sincere dialogue and solid bilateral commitments, which contributed to the transformation and progress of Moldova.
