Chisinau, April 4 /MOLDPRES/ - Speaker Igor Grosu is visiting Soldanesti district today. Discussions with mayors and councillors from most villages focused on legislative priorities and projects to modernise localities.

"Our common goal for 2024 - be it Parliament, Government or local representatives - is to transform all Moldova, village by village, city by city, into a European country, where people live in well-being and safety," he said.

They also talked about the problems faced by the localities, the most acute being the lack of drinking water, the state of local roads and rubbish dumps. Most of them mentioned that they have accessed projects in recent years and are determined to continue these projects to modernise their localities. Only in the last year, through the National Programme European Village, projects worth more than 70 million lei have been implemented in Soldanesti, money invested to provide households with water and sewage, for street lighting or modernisation of social institutions.

Grosu also visited Alexei Mateevici Theoretical High School in Soldanesti, which this year offers European study and working conditions. Thanks to the EU support, there have been made works to modernize and renovate the institution.

"The changes will not stop here, as the institution has been selected in the Model Schools Network project. Future investments will allow access to education for a larger number of students from villages in the vicinity of Soldanesti. I was happy to see friendly, well-equipped classrooms full of pupils," said Grosu.

He spoke to teachers and professors about our country's European path and Europe means peace and well-being.

Grosu also met with traders at the market in the town of Soldanesti, who are at risk of losing their jobs after the land where the market is located was sold. The local authorities and the new administration must find a solution to help the people.

In Soldanesti, the official visited the construction site where repair work is being carried out on the badly damaged 5-storey building, where more than 100 people were at risk of being left homeless. According to the site manager, the work is in its final stages and more than 30 families are expected to return to their homes in May.

At the end of his visit to Soldanesti district, he is due to talk to inhabitants of Vadul-Rascov village.
