Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration says countries like Moldova deserve, must be members of EU family

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - Such countries as Moldova deserve and must be members of the European Union. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Gherasimov today conveyed a message to this effect, on the occasion of marking the Europe Day.     

„Today, on the Europe Day, I want to once again express my gratitude to all European friends and partners who are with us. Moldova stays dedicated to the values which unite us. We know that, just as the founding father of the Union, Robert Schuman, used to say, Europe is not created at once, but is edified through achievements and solidarity. We are ready to give a helping hand to this edification and I am sure that together, step by step, we will turn Moldova into the heart and centre of Europe. Congratulations, Europe! We expect you in each home!,’’ the official said.    

Cristina Gherasimov noted that ‘’we know how the past looked, we experience the present and we make our future by ourselves.’’ According to the official, ‘’this future, however, does not mean comfort and rest, but an uninterrupted work, meant to bring us welfare and open new horizons. A peaceful future, lived in freedom, and in which each citizen of our country should feel AT HOME anywhere in Europe.’’    

„We create this future for our grandparents, who are to enjoy a peaceful old age and for the parents, who are to be able to work in safety. For our young people to have well-paid jobs and for the children to have their mother and father at close. We create it along with all those who understand that, facing the present challenges, Europe cannot stay divided and such countries as Moldova deserve and must be members of the European family,’’ the deputy PM said.    

Moldova today, 9 May, celebrates the Day of Victory and of commemoration of the heroes who died for the Independence of the Motherland, as well as the Europe Day, under the decision on the commemorative days, holidays and days off in Moldova.
