Moldovan parliament to take over chairmanship of BSEC Parliamentary Assembly

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan parliament will take over the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) for the first six months of 2015. Parliament Speaker Igor Corman and BSEC Secretary General Victor Tvircun tackled the issue at a today meeting, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported. 

The Moldovan parliament will take over the chairmanship, according to the rotation principle, from the Greek parliament during the autumn session of the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly, due in Athens, on 8-9 December. At the same time, in the first half of the next year, Moldova will also hold the chairmanship of BSEC and the organisation's Business People Council.

The two officials also approached priorities of Moldova's chairmanship at BSEC PA, among which the development of such sectors as health protection, economy, transport and information technologies. ”These priorities of the chairmanship of Moldova within those 3 BSEC structures are to be achieved by joining efforts of all Moldovan authorities,” Corman said. 

For his part, Victor Tvircun praised the work of the Moldovan parliamentary delegation to BSEC PA and stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the Black Sea area. 

The first meeting of the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly under the Moldovan chairmanship will take place in Chisinau, on 21-22 January 2015. Moldova's parliament will give over the chairmanship to the Romanian parliament in the second half of 2015.
