Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union today launched three technical assistance projects on reform of the justice sector in Moldova

The projects' goal is to reform the Moldovan judiciary system, investigation institutions and probation systems.

Attending the launching event, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca highlighted that, in order to reform the justice area, it was necessary to deeply involve foreign partners.

„I am glad that we enjoy the constant support of the European structures. Only this way, we will reach the level when people may feel protected and respected by the state's institutions,” Leanca said.

Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola said that now it was the most important moment to implement reforms in the justice sector.

„Once the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement implemented, many foreign investors will come to Moldova. The first thing that they will analyse will be the justice area, which must be changed via the reform of prosecution, probation system and fight against corruption,” Tapiola said.

EU provided 10 million euros for those three projects launched today and another one initiated in April 2014.
