Moldovan exporters to benefit from co-financing grants from World Bank

Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan exporters will benefit from grants within a new component of the Project on Enhancing Competitiveness, launched in Chisinau today. The co-financing grants are estimated at 3 million dollars.

"Over 450 entrepreneurs got 2.7 million dollars for improving businesses and implementing ISOP standards within the first project on enhancing competitiveness. Other 60 entrepreneurs had access to the credit line amounting to 22 million dollars for investments in circulating assets", Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Stephane Bride said.

The official said that Moldova had the experience of "an efficient partnership with the team of the World Bank, therefore, the expectations from the current project are great". The means offered by the international financial institution will be used to increase the quality of products and services, optimise the internal business processes, improve company's image and identify new partners.

"World Bank's financing is a support for implementing the Free Trade Agreement with the EU", Bride said.

"Via the project, Moldova will reform the system on business regulation, so that there should be much easier to carry out a business. Secondly, this project will provide assistance and will help companies access medium and long-term resources", World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Alex Kremer said.

He also added that the project would help the companies access business development services to be able to export the products.

Kremer noted that about 300 co-financing grants, amounting to 200,000 lei each, would be offered.
