Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu today proposed the creation of a working group on the parliamentary platform to reset the system of fighting against corruption, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The working group will have the task of proposing a set of legislative drafts, designed to reset the entire system of fighting corruption, to the parliament.

According to the parliament speaker, the fight against corruption is a priority for the current government, and improving legislation and identifying solutions to stop corruption will contribute to recovering the public’s and the development partners' trust in Moldovan state institutions.

The parliament speaker stressed the importance of reviewing the system of fighting corruption, starting with its prevention and ending with the actual fight against corruption.

"It is equally important to evaluate the existing procedures and the role of each institution involved in the fight against corruption so as to examine the entire institutional and procedural chain - from initiation of the investigation and till the examination of cases in courts," the speaker noted.

Andrian Candu proposed for the working group to be made up of both representatives of institutions specialising in directly combating corruption, and representatives of civil society and development partners of Moldova.

"Given the complexity of the issue and the need to involve more stakeholders, sometimes with distinct visions, I asked the institutions responsible for directly combating corruption, civil society, development partners, as well as parliamentary factions and the Justice Ministry to delegate a maximum of two persons to the meetings of the working group", said Andrian Candu.

The working group on reforming and re-launching the anti-corruption system will start its activity after 2 October - the deadline for the delegation of all representatives of the groups.
