United States to back Moldova in implementing actions, concrete reforms

Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bridget Brink. They discussed the actions and priorities of the Moldovan government, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The premier reiterated the importance of support provided by the USA and other foreign partners to improve the social-political and economic situation in the country and to promote the reforms necessary for the people’s welfare. “I believe we will manage by concrete actions to contribute to re-establishing foreign partnership and to increasing welfare of citizens”, he said.

At the same time, the premier tackled the visit by experts of the International Monetary Fund and representatives of European Commission, having constructive talks meant to contribute to fortifying state institutions of Moldova.

Bridget Brink welcomed the government’s priorities, noting that Washington would back Moldova in implementing actions and concrete reforms.

The two officials also approached the roadmap on implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, anti-corruption actions, as well as expected effects from the adoption of the law on prosecution, set of laws on integrity and the need to maintain a dialogue with civil society.

Brink pays a working visit to Chisinau on 2-4 March. The official will have more meetings with authorities and non-governmental organizations from Moldova.
