Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - The heads of more diplomatic missions accredited in Chisinau on 2 October participated in the harvest of grapes in an agricultural farm from Comrat, at an invitation by the administration of the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit.

The guests had possibility to participate in the agricultural works, traditional for Moldova’s southern region, as well as to taste from Gagauz dishes.

Many of the diplomats who accepted the invitation of the autonomy’s leadership came to Comrat along with their families. A class of Gagauzian language was organized for them following the works.

“We wanted the representatives of embassies in Moldova, which are partners of the autonomy in more important projects, understand the customs and culture of the Gagauz people. We considered that it is interesting that they independently participate in the process of wine preparation, according to the Gagauz traditions, the bashkan (governor) of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah said, cited by www.gagauzinfo.md.

The diplomats who accepted to work for one day in vineyards of Gagauz—Yeri said they had enjoyed a novel and interesting experience.

“This was something captivating, and we would like the Gagauz authorities turn this event traditional,” a representative of the European Union delegation in Moldova, Mindaugas Kacerauskas, said.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to Moldova Zhang Yinghong, who participated in the harvest of grapes for the first time ever, said that this visit allowed him learn new things about the agriculture of the Gagauz region.
