Moldovan Security and Intelligence Service identifies persons to falsify ballots

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) of Moldova announced on 29 October 2016 that it has identified individuals involved in the distortion of information by publishing content on social networks, on the night of 28 – 29 October, the images of several ballots bearing the stamp "Voted" beside an elections candidate's name.

The SIS’s press service has informed that the publication of images would be aimed at the destabilization generating social balance in the context of the presidential elections. "SIS has identified that social networks, there have been posted several models of "ballots" processed by using "Photoshop", accompanied by "a message to voters", oriented to denigration of state authorities. Models of sanitized "ballots" were taken by several users of social networks, which have distributed in a manipulator way, thus incited the spirits of citizens and caused sensation of an abuse of the electoral process," stated the institution.

"During the investigations, SIS has identified individuals involved in the distortion of information content. Evidentiary materials to be shipped to General Prosecutor’s Office ", informed the press service of SIS.

Similarly, the chief of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Alina Russu said on 29 October 2016, that according to the information on one of the ballots, it would be for voters in the polling station opened in the city of Kursk, Russian Federation. "I contacted the election bureau of Kursk, where election officials denied information regarding the ballot which is stamped "voted". According to them, the act is a fake, because so far, election documents, including ballots were not opened by members of the electoral body respectively, it will take place throughout the day today. Therefore, we find that it was just an intimidation brought into the electoral process in Moldova," said Russu.

Tomorrow, on 30 October 2016, there will be held direct presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova.
