Moldovan electoral body says presidential elections' runoff to be held on 13 November

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Central Election Commission (CEC) adopted today the decision to hold the presidential elections runoff on 13 November.

The chairman of CEC Alina Russu announced at the meeting on 2 November that in the second election round there will participate the candidate of the Socialist Party of Moldova (PSRM) Igor Dodon, who obtained 680,550 votes, and the candidate of Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu, for whom voted 549,152 citizens. "The campaign for these two candidates starts even straight away," Russu said.

Also today, CEC members announced that the presidential elections of 30 October were declared valid throughout the election participatory of 1,440,733 people on Sunday voting, that is 50,95 per cent of voters. More than 22,000 of the total number of the voting ballots were declared not valid.

After processing 100 per cent of the elections reports, CEC data showed that Igor Dodon Socialist Party of Moldova (PSRM) gained 47,98 per cent of votes, Maia Sandu, Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) obtained 38,71 per cent of votes, Dumitru Ciubasenco, Our Party (PN) – 6,03 per cent, Iurie Leanca, People’s European Party of Moldova (PPEM) – 3,11 per cent, Mihai Ghimpu, Liberal Party (PL) – 1,8 per cent, Valeriu Ghiletchi (independent candidate) – 1,08 per cent, Maia Laguta (independent candidate) – 0,76 per cent Silvia Radu (independent candidate) – 0,37 per cent and Ana Gutu, Right Party (Partidul Dreapta) – 0,17 per cent.

Also, on 13 November it will be held runoff elections for mayor of Iserlia commune, Basarabeasca district.
