Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s exports to the European Union countries grew by 9.4 per cent in 2016 against the year before, while the supplies of Moldovan goods to the market of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped by 15.9 per cent against 2015.

Data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), made public today, also shows that the share of EU countries in the overall Moldovan exports increased to 65.1 per cent against 61 per cent in 2015, while the quota of the CIS states diminished from 25 to 20.3 per cent, against the background of the decreases in exports by 77.54 per cent to Kazakhstan, by 21.3 per cent to Belarus and by 3.1 per cent to Russia.

About one quarter of the exports represented food products, diverse manufactured articles (23.1 per cent of overall exports) and machines and equipment for transport (15.9 per cent). The structure of exports according to groups of products in 2016  maintained at the level of the previous year.

Statistics shows that the imports increased insignificantly both from European Union countries, which rose by one per cent, and from CIS states, respectively by 0.9 per cent.

The general evolution of exports, their increase by four per cent and the imports’ growth by 0.8 per cent are above the forecasts by the Economics Ministry, which expected a five-per cent drop in the deliveries of Moldovan goods to foreign markets in 2016 against the year before and a six-per cent diminution of the imports.
