German embassy marks 25th anniversary of Moldovan-German diplomatic relations

Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – The German Embassy organized a concert entitled "Twenty-five years together! A musical journey through Germany, Moldova and Europe" at the Summer Theatre in Valea Morilor Park in Chisinau on 01 July. The event was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of German-Moldovan diplomatic relations.

The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister, Lilian Darii, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Moldova, Ulrike Knotz, Head of the European Union Delegation, Pirkka Tapiola, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau and other officials.

In his speech, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Moldova, Ulrike Knotz said that that anniversary meant 25 years of collaboration and friendship, as well as support in various fields for Moldova. "There are many things that unite us, one of which is, in particular, classical outdoor music," emphasized Ulrike Knotz, who ended his mandate as ambassador in Moldova.

At his part, Deputy Foreign Minister, Lilian Darii, stressed that the 25 years helped to strengthen the friendship between Moldova and Germany. "Germany was the first window for Moldovans to Europe. We hope that in the future it will be easier for us to build a common Europe together," said Lilian Darii.

According to the organizers, the open air summer concert is at the 18th edition. This year, the concert was presented by the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic "Serghei Lunchevici", with the conductor being Mihail Agafita, the Artist of the People. Within the program, there were works by R. Wagner, M. Stircea, Eugen Doga, J. S. Bach, G. F. Handel, W. A. ​​Mozart, L. van Beethoven, D. Sostakovich, F. Lehar and other composers. These were interpreted by Lilia Solomei – soprano, Vitalie Cebotari – baritone, Virginia Sircu – saxophone and Pavel Efremov – accordion.

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany were established on 30 April 1992.
