Chisinau, August 17 /MOLDPRES/ – The French Embassy in Chisinau launched the small projects competition: Decentralized Cooperation France – Moldova, today. "The Embassy is the project leader for extension of the Regional Development Strategy and still wants to be a partner for regional development," said Jérémie Petit, First Councilor, Councilor for Cooperation and Cultural Action of the French Diplomatic Mission in Chisinau.

"It is a new project aimed at developing communities in Moldova and France, developing partnerships," said the French diplomat. He added that another goal has been the relations relaunch between local communities that had existed in the not too distant past in the 70's of the last century, but "unfortunately" those relationships collapsed.

Similarly, Jérémie Petit said that several projects were launched from 2015, including an international seminar on decentralized cooperation involving more than 100 Moldovan mayors and representatives of 12 communities in France, which took place in Costesti locality, Ialoveni district in 2016. A Forum for Sustainable Development and Urban Development in Chisinau was launched with the Embassy’s support, which recent issue took place in April 2017.

The project provides financial aid for both Moldovan and French communities. The joint projects will be funded by partners from Moldova and France, in particular concerning the transfer of experience, and will be implemented within one year.

"We want to contribute to its sustainability through the development of project capabilities. We really want to encourage young people and entrepreneurship. We encourage local initiatives and protect the patrimony," said at the same event representative of the Francophonie University Agency for the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, Ruxanda Turcanu, a project partner of the French Embassy.

The French Embassy will provide for each project €2,000 and €1,000 from the Francophone University Agency. The counselor of the Embassy anticipates that there will be 5-6 projects, but maybe even more, depending on their quality.
