Chisinau, 04 September /MOLDPRES/ – The autumn session of the Parliament of Moldova started today and will last until the end of 2017. The members of the parliament resume work in committees and the Standing Bureau is to set the date for the first plenary meeting.

Interviewed by the agency, the representative of the largest faction in the Legislature, Democrat Sergiu Sarbu, specified that the priorities for the autumn parliamentary session have been based on the Government's program and Moldova's commitments in the context of the Association Agreement. "At present, the party is working on several draft laws, but the details will be made public later," said Sarbu.

Socialist Vasile Bolea mentioned that the Socialists’ (PSRM) MPs have worked on over 120 projects, 60 of them in collaboration with the head of state, Igor Dodon. "We have legislative initiatives related to the amendment of the Criminal Code, economic issues and improvement of the investment climate. The work is also being done on social projects such as providing social benefits to young families. It is also a priority to organize early elections," said Bolea.

The leader of the European People's Parliamentary Group (PPE), Valeriu Ghiletchi, said that the projects related to the activity of the banks, the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism would remain priority for this session too.

The leaders of opposing parties’ factions said that the priorities for this session have remained largely the ones outlined above, but they have been skeptical that they would be supported by the parliamentary majority.

Also today, the head of state Igor Dodon announced on a social network that he prepared several legislative initiatives related to social policies and support of the population. "I reiterate that in the current session, I shall insist on extensive parliamentary hearings on the technical and financial assistance granted to Moldova since 2009", states the message of the President of the Republic of Moldova.
