Chisinau, 07 September /MOLDPRES/ – The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) denies the fact that no legal action has been brought against companies known to the public as the "Sor group", the BNM’s information and media communication service has reported.

As a result of press articles, the BNM states, on the basis of the information obtained from the liquidators of Banca de Economii S.A., BC Banca Sociala S.A. and B.C. Unibank S.A., that since the establishment of the special administration and the withdrawal of the license of the three banks, several civil and criminal actions have been initiated. Thus, with a view to collecting the debts and recovering the damage caused to the three banks, the special administrators/liquidators filed civil actions in the courts and filed criminal prosecution complaints regarding former bank administrators and debtors.

The BNM states that in several criminal cases the banks in liquidation were recognized as a civil party.

Also, we communicate that the BNM, by virtue and within the limits of its statutory mandate, oversees the forced liquidation process of banks and asked banks' liquidators to examine further the actions that may be taken to recover the damage caused to them.
