President of interstate tv company presents in Chisinau development perspectives of institution

Chisinau, 07 September /MOLDPRES/ – The president of the interstate TV company MIR, the well-known Russian journalist, Radik Batyrsin, who is on a working visit to Moldova, presented at a press conference today the development prospects of the institution he is leading.

At the beginning of the conference, the director of MIR Representation in Moldova, Valeriu Renita, mentioned that Radik Batyrsin has been a well-known Russian journalist who participated in the conflict zones, including in South Ossetia and Chechnya.

Radik Batyrsin spoke to journalists about today meeting with Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, where the Premier mentioned the important role of Company MIR in the correct and equidistant information of the CIS space Diaspora about the events in Moldova. The prime minister also said that the Government would continue to support, as far as possible, the development of Company MIR in Moldova. The official congratulated the company's team on 25 years of activity, wishing successes, competitive projects and many years on media market.

Then, Radik Batyrsin presented to journalists info on the institution he has been leading. Thus, the Interstate Company MIR is a media structure of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) which was created on 09 October 1992 to reflect cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian fields between the Community countries.

He said that 10 countries participate within that company: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Currently, the company has three television channels: MIR, MIR 24 and MIR ND, a radio station and a news portal: www.mir24tv.  Currently, Interstate Company MIR broadcasts programmes in over 20 world countries, with an audience of around 140 million people.

Asked to talk about the institution's prospects for development, Radik Batyrsin said that a channel for children and another for culture would be opened in upcoming years.

At the end, the president of the interstate company Mir answered several questions, addressed by the journalists.

At his turn, the director of the MIR Representation in Moldova, journalist Valeriu Renita, came up with some details about his president's meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova, as well as about how the company would mark the 25th anniversary.

Radik Batyrsin was born on 28 July 1968 in Ufa city, Bashkortostan, the Russian Federation. In 1990, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the State University of Bashkortostan and in 1994 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the State University in Moscow. He worked at Radio Svoboda, after which he held several leading positions in several television companies. In 2007, he was elected president of the interstate company MIR. During his career, he made over 100 trips in conflict zones. He also participated in the talks for the release of hostage journalists. He is decorated with orders and medals of the Russian state.
