Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca, suspended from office, will stay in home arrest for 30 days. The decision was taken today by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court, Buiucani sector.

According to the judges' decision, Dorin Chirtoaca's arrest warrant for domicile was extended until 12 October. At the same time, the magistrates also rejected the request for leaving home, filed previously by Chirtoaca's lawyers.

Prosecutor Dumitru Robu said that the grounds previously submitted for maintaining home arrest have kept their topicality.

The Mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca, was detained at the end of May by anticorruption prosecutors and officers, suspected of having influence on the paid parking lots file. Chirtoaca was suspended from office until a final sentence issuance.

Recently, the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) announced that the suspended mayor of the capital has been prosecuted in a new criminal case in which he was suspected of overcoming his duties.
