Moldovan head of state, member of economic council under president discuss export of agro-food production to Russia

Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon has had a meeting with the head of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruits from Moldova, member of the Economic Council under the Moldovan President Vitalie Gorincioi, the presidential press service has reported.     

The subject of the discussions was focused on the situation in terms of the export of the agro-food production to the Russian market, especially of fruits, as well as the settlement of problems on the extension of the list of exporters of horticultural goods accepted on the market of Russia.  

The participants in the meeting said that, following agreements reached between the Moldovan president and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the export of fruits and vegetables to the Russian market grew essentially, including of the grapes 18-fold, of apples by three times, of apricots, cherries and sweet cherries – 1.4-fold. At the same time, farmers got right to export their own production through all customs checkpoints of Russia, which significantly simplified the export process.    

“We continue to work to remove the customs tariffs on certain categories of goods, such as vegetables, apples, pears, peaches, etc., about which I will discuss also at a tomorrow meeting with the head of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, Ana Popova,” the head of state said.   

Topics on increasing the list of exporters, categories of goods, as well as removing tariff blockages will be also discussed by the Moldovan president at a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Sochi next week.
