Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/- Over 2,100 police officers received about 3,000 lei from the fines, after the inspectors were given the opportunity to charge 25 per cent of the penalties. Representatives of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) provided data on the matter.

Payments were received during the year. At the same time, the amounts vary depending on the fines collected to the state budget.

The quarterly remuneration of police officers is set out in the Regulation on financial stimulation of the inspectors of the Interior Ministry IGP, approved in March 2017.

Implementation of the stimulation procedure is performed by a commission set up by the IGP.

Of the total number of employees with special status IGP, over 5,200 inspectors have the right to get financial stimulation.

When calculating the quarterly financial remuneration, only fines collected to the state budget, imposed by the investigating agent as a result of irrevocable contravention proceedings, are taken into account.

The regulation aims to strengthen and optimize capacities to prevent and combat corruption, increase citizens’ confidence in police officers and financial stimulation for employees. Under the document, the money is distributed from IGP budget.

According to MAI data, in 2016 the investigating agents of the National Patrol Inspectorate of IGP drafted about 263,000 reports on contravention, of which over 228,000 were paid in a total amount of 82.6 million lei.
