Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/- The localities of Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui, Leova district, will benefit from new water supply networks. Their design and construction will be made from money earmarked by the EU.

Funding will be granted in 2018 under a grant agreement signed this year by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and the EU Delegation to Moldova. It sees elaboration of technical documentation and tendering for construction works in several projects related to water supply and sanitation and energy efficiency in the three Development Regions (South, Centre and North) in our country.

Thus, one the projects due to be implemented from European money in the South Region is the one aiming at water supply in the villages in Leova district. The estimated investment is about 2.5 million euros.

According to Andrei Tocaru, GIZ consultant, the nominated project is part of a larger programme “Modernizing local public water supply services in Leova district”, funded by the German government.

“As a partner of the large-scale project, ongoing in our country since 2010, the EU has committed to finance at this stage design and construction of 83 km of inland aqueduct networks in Iargara, Filipeni, Cupcui and Romanovca,” Tocaru said.

By late 2017, memoranda of understanding will be signed between the EU-funder, GIZ-facilitator, implementing institution – South Regional Development Agency and mayoralties of the beneficiary localities. After that, the public tender will be announced for the acquisition of the design works for the aqueduct networks in Iargara, Filipeni, Cupcui and Romanovca.
