Moldova's law on monuments erected in public places updated

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The law on monuments erected in public places has been updated. Thus, the amendments and completions to the document will be published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) of Moldova on 8 December.

The document’s authors said that the “monuments erected in public places have a special role in the formation of the image of the urban and rural settlements of any modern country, as well as in the preservation/promotion of the society’s cultural and historical memory. Thus, the ensuring of the efficient protection of monuments, as well as the ensuring of a proper artistic state represents an important task of the state.”    

The powers of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry as to the completion of the national database of the monuments erected in public places were established in the updated document. Also, regulations on the way of delimiting the zones of protection of the monuments erected in public places were detailed in the articles dedicated to these zones.  

The Moldovan parliament adopted the law on monuments erected in public places in September 2011. According to the document’s authors, based on an analysis, decision-makers found out need to make completions to ensure an efficient work of the document.   

The most important adjustings made referred to the introduction of the definition of the monuments erected in public places, ground of the monument set in public places and their status, through which the monumental fine art works, assigned to the monuments set in public places, were established and which of them cannot have this status.

The new amendments need no financial spending.  

A presidential decree on the promulgation of the amendments and completions made will be published in the 8 December of the Official Journal too.
