Moldovan deputy premier holds consultations on draft declaration on five-plus-two talks

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan, in the context of participation in the 24th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council held in Vienna on 7-8 December 2017, has had more consultations with representatives of the participants in the permanent conference on political issues in the of Transnistrian settlement process. The consultations are meant to coordinate a consolidated stance on a draft declaration on the five-plus-two negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement process, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

The aforementioned draft document is to assess the results recorded in the process of talks during the OSCE chairmanship-in-office, exercised by Austria in 2017, to formalize the commitments of the actors involved and the priority actions scheduled to be carried out during the Italian OSCE chairmanship in 2018, as well as to formulate measures of boosting the work of all present platforms of negotiations, in order to make substantial progress in the process of settlement of the Transnistrian file.   

Traditionally, the concerned meeting is held in the end of the current year and brings together delegations from the 57 OSCE member states, led by the foreign affairs ministers. The meeting gives the participants opportunity to revise and evaluate the Organization’s activities, strengthening the dialogue on security.
