Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/- The IMF Executive Board approved the second evaluation report of the agreement with Moldova. As a result of assessing the progress made in fulfilling our commitments, our country will get from IMF a new installment worth 22.2 million dollars, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The Board of Directors appreciated the macroeconomic and financial stability in Moldova, as well as the results in the implementation of the country program with IMF. Also, the officials pointed out the authorities’ success in reducing inflation and found that the state budget for 2018 and the medium-term fiscal framework promoted by the government allowed increased public investment and social spending.

At the same time, the IMF Executive Board encouraged the continuation of structural reforms in Moldova, including banking and finance, strengthening fiscal sustainability and monetary policy efficiency, as well as actions aimed at improving the public administration and business climate in the country.

The report was conducted by the IMF expert team, led by Ben Kelmanson, who visited Chisinau on 25 October-7 November 2017 in a mission to assess the country program of Moldova with IMF.

On 7 November 2016, the IMF Board of Directors approved a three-year program with Moldova. The financial support worth about 183.1 million dollars is granted to our country in installments and is meant to support the reforms promoted by the government.
