Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - The decree on the promulgation and the law on the completion of the Audiovisual Code will be published in the 12 January issue of Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial). The decree was promulgated by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu on 10 January, after the Constitutional Court had found out the circumstances justifying the exercising of the interim duties of the Moldovan president for the decree’s promulgation.

The notion “information security” will be introduced following the legislative amendments to the Audiovisual Code. The term stimulates “the state of protection of information resources, including a string of measures for ensuring the protection of persons, society and the state from eventual attempts of misinforming and/or manipulating informing from abroad and for not allowing media provocations against Moldova.”

The Audiovisual Code will be completed also with an article ruling that the broadcasting in Moldova of TV and radio programmes with information, analytical, military and political content, which are produced in the European Union member states, USA, Canada, as well as in the states which ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television, will be allowed.

If violating the new provisions, broadcasters will have to pay fines ranging from 70,000 to 100,000 lei and will remain without licence in case of repeated sanctions.

The present law enters into force in a period of 30 days after its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal. The government will have at its disposal three months to bring its normative acts in line with the current law and will submit to parliament proposals on adjusting the national legislation to the new amendments of the Audiovisual Code.
