Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ - Transport means move in winter conditions on roads of Moldova, the head of the operative service at the State Roads’ Administration, Sergiu Capatina, has said.

According to Capatina, the road traffic is practicable for all types of transport means. “Presently, there are no difficulties on the country’s roads. Heavier snowfalls are recorded in south-eastern Moldova. During the last night, 22 special vehicles and 58 workers intervened. Roadmen used 169 tons of anti-skid material,” Sergiu Capatina said.

At the same time, the Chisinau city hall said that employees of the Exdrupo Administration had intervened with ten special vehicles to spread anti-skid material. “Workers act mainly on principal roads, on roads on which public transport is moving, in circle junctions and sloping roads. At the same time, the housing and utility administration already intervenes with ten vehicles to clean pavements. Depending on the weather conditions, the number of vehicles going on the ground will be increased. Machines will work twenty four hours to provide the cleaning of streets,” according to a press release of the Exdrupo Administration.

The press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate, Natalia Golovco, said that no national roads with interrupted traffic because of the weather were recorded at present. “Patrol officers are on all roads of Moldova, in order to ease the road traffic and not allow unpleasant incidents. At the same time, we recommend that drivers maintain a larger distance between vehicles, do not drive with high speed and do not start moving, if they don’t have winter tyres,” Golovco noted.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the weather forecasts centre at the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), Ghenadie Rosca, said that “till 23 January, precipitation in form of sleet, rain and snow is expected all over the country.”

According to SHS, minimum air temperatures of down to -4 Celsius degrees at night, and maximum ones of up to +3 degrees during the day are forecast for the next days.”
