Twenty eight competitors from Moldova register for National Eurovision Selection 2018

Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ - Twenty eight files have been submitted to the National Eurovision Selection 2018 starting from on 1 December 2017 till 15 January 2018.  

According to the organizers, among those who managed to register for the contest, there are experienced artists, as well as young people who launch out on the big stage. Singers Doinita Gherman, Felicia Dunaf, Ruslan Taranu, DoReDos band, Lavinia Rusu, etc. will participate in the competition.  

Moldova’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be selected following three phases: LIVE hearings; National Simi-final, due on 22 February and National Final, due on 24 February.    
 
Singers from 42 countries will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, due to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, following the country’s victory gained at the 2017 issue of the contest, organized in Kiev. The contest’s semi-finals will take place on 8 and 10 May and the Great Final will be held on 12 May.   
 
Eurovision Song Contest is an international musical competition, organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), - the biggest association of public service media in Europe. Broadcast uninterruptedly during more than 60 years, the show has become one of the most long-lasting and best watched TV programmes worldwide.     

In 2017, Moldova’s representatives, members of the SunStroke Project, ranked third at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song, Hey Mamma – the best performance achieved by Moldova at this contest. Moldova has been participating in this competition since 2005. In that year, the band Zdob si Zdub was on the sixth position.
