Moldovan deputy premier, EU commissioner discuss progress made in free trade agreement's implementation

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prospects for boosting the commercial relations between Moldova and the European Union, based on the implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), have been  discussed at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and European Commission for Trade Cecilia  Malmstrom in Brussels.    
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the two officials agreed with the priorities for the immediately next period, in order to fully benefit from the potential provided by DCFTA. Among them, there is getting the permit to export Moldovan animal-origin goods to the European market.   

The sides also agreed on the importance to observe the intellectual property rights, as well as increase the number of Moldovan companies with potential of export to the European Union.

In the context, European Commissioner Malmstrom reiterated EU’s willingness to provide financial and technical support, in order to achieve the goals assumed by Moldova within the Free Trade Agreement.

Iurie Leanca and Cecilia Malmstrom exchanged opinions on the revision of export tariff contingents in the sense of their increasing. The European commissioner said the request had been received and was under consideration and an answer to this effect would be submitted to the Moldovan authorities on the next period.
