Discussion at joint control commission meeting blocked by Transnistrian delegation

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ – The joint control commission (CUC) met in Bender city on 08 February, in a meeting headed by Russian delegation, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.

As agreed previously, agenda focused on activities of CUC and joint military command (CMI) on reopening, on 18 November 2017, of bridge near villages Gura Bacului and Baciu to be monitored only by participants of operation (Russia, Ukraine, OSCE).

During the meeting, most of commission’s components put forward reasonable proposals to contribute to adoption of a joint decision to identify to issue solutions.

As a result of talks, quite long ones, despite efforts made and arguments put forward by members of delegations of Russia and Moldova, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission to Moldova, delegation of Tiraspol categorically opposed the draft decision unanimously supported by other participants at meeting.

As such, delegation of Tiraspol did not want to accept that activity of structures of force structures and law enforcement bodies adjoining bridge of Gura Bacului – Bacioc would be monitored only by representatives of intermediaries in process of negotiations for the Transnistrian settlement (Russia, OSCE), without involvement of Chisinau and Tiraspol. That proposal was formulated by Moldova and Russia’s delegations and agreed by representatives of Ukraine and OSCE.

As to justify his unproductive position, Oleg Beleakov, head of the Transnistrian delegation, invoked, in an already traditional manner, irrelevant, distorted and unfounded reasons.

It should be noted that, according to CUC’s regulation of 08 April 2003, decisions in commission are adopted on a consensus basis.

In absence of consensus, CUC’s meeting was interrupted and will continue on 15 February 2018.
