Moldovan audiovisual coordination council fines more broadcasters failing to observe decision on ensuring information security

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - Eighteen radio and TV broadcasters and distributors of services which have not presented in time the general concepts of  services of programmes and notifications for the offer of services of programmes were sanctioned with a fine of 5,000 lei at a today’s meeting of the Audiovisual Coordination Council (CCA).  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, CCA President Dragos Vicol said that, in line with the amendments to Moldova’s Audiovisual Code from 22 December 2017, which sees that, “for the state’s information insurance, the radio and TV broadcasters and distributors of services are allowed to broadcast TV programmes with informative, informative and analytical, military and political content, which are produced in the member states of the European Union, USA, Canada, as well as in the states which ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television,” the radio and TV broadcasters, as well as the distributors of services are obliged to comply their services of audiovisual programmes and offers in a period of 30 days upon the date of publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).     

According to Vicol, the regulatory authority in the audiovisual communication sector considered the general concepts of services of programmes of 51 TV channels out of 60 ones and 53 radio stations out of 55 ones. “Within the expert examination of the general concepts of services of programmes submitted for approval, infringements were found out, for which they were reiterated for improvement. As a result, 20 radio stations and 15 TV channels will additionally present, till 15 February 2018, the general concepts of services of programmes,” Dragos Vicol noted.

CCA approved the general concepts of services of programmes of 32 radio stations and 36 TV channels which are under Moldova’s jurisdiction. Two radio stations and nine TV channels have not submitted in time the general concepts of services of programmes and seven out of 64 distributors of services did not submit notifications on the date set, i.e. today. Those 11 radio and TV broadcasters and seven distributors of services were fined with 5,000 lei.
