EU Commissioner reiterates support for Moldova's European integration

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

The officials discussed Moldova’s actions in carrying out the reforms’ agenda, including through the light of the fulfillment of the conditions related to the providing of the macro-financial assistance on behalf of the European Union. PM Pavel Filip evoked the authorities’ determination to maintain a high pace of implementation of the conditions set by EU, assuming the goal of speeding up this process, despite the electoral year.  

Among the main reforms, the prime minister highlighted the judicial system reform, enforcement of the new law on money laundering and adoption of the law on NGOs’ work. The PM noted that these examples were meant to confirm the determination of the authorities to press ahead with the advancement on the European integration way.

Pavel Filip also reiterated Moldova’s commitment in achieving the goals established at the Eastern Partnership Summit from last November, based on the strategic priorities of the country.  

Johannes Hahn appreciated the progress made and the government’s determination to continue implementing the reforms in a sustained pace. At the same time, the official stressed the EU’s support for carrying out the Association Agreement signed with Moldova.
