Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government will create a platform of communication between the Central Public Administration (APC) and Local Public Administration (APL). A decision to this effect was taken at a today’s working meeting with the participation of cabinet members and representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova (CALM).

Prime Minister Pavel Filip has said that one of the government’s priorities was to boost the communication between APC and APL. “This format of meeting is very good, as all cabinet members, the government’s representatives in the territory and CALM members are here. I want, beyond these platforms, which do not represent so often meetings, that there is a permanent communication, where we are to discuss about the public administration and efficient solutions,” Filip said.

For her part, CALM president Tatiana Badan welcomed the today meeting and referred to the importance of creating a platform of communication. “We want very much to re-establish the communication with the central public authorities. Today, we will unveil several more general problems, which will be set forth by our colleagues. We voice hope that, after this meeting, we will get to have a very good understanding about this format of dialogue. We think that this day will be a good beginning for the country’s democratization,” Badan noted.

The APL representatives noted more up-to-date problems faced by mayors at present. It is about: the need to improve the legal framework, taxes, which would represent a smaller share in the local revenues; turning to good account the local heritage, increase in local incomes, high expenditures for administration and low salaries.

Pavel Filip pointed out that these problems were quote known and need to be considered in-depth. “We will solve them together. You have every openness on behalf of APC to discuss all subjects. We will set up a working group due to be made up of representatives of mayoralties and more state institutions, which will improve the situation. Also, a string of visits to areas will be made and enlarged meetings will be organized whenever necessary,” Filip said.

The last enlarged meeting between mayors and APC took place on 1 February, on the occasion of the day of local autonomy and local public administration employee. There are about 900 mayoralties in Moldova.
