Artists from more countries to take part in spring international music festival in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ – Artists from 13 countries will participate in 52nd issue of the International Music Festival Martisor, which will take place on 01 – 10 March in Moldova as well as beyond of its borders.

At a press conference today, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc said that the Festival to called: Martisor is love, in 2018, and would be dedicated to a special event, namely on 6 December 2017, in the Representative List of Immaterial Cultural Patrimony of the Martyr's Humanity. The project to nominate the "Cultural Practices Associated to the Day of 01 March" in the UNESCO Representative List of the Immaterial Heritage of Humanity was launched in March 2014 by the Ministry of Culture of Moldova, in partnership with the Ministries of Culture of Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia.

According to the official, the issue of 2018 will include 54 musical shows organized by SE. Concert and Concert Organization "Moldova-Concert", National Philharmonic "Serghei Lunchevici", National Opera and Ballet Theatre "Maria Biesu", The Organ Hall, National Folk Dance Ensemble "Joc". Out of these, there will be held 26 concerts in different districts of Moldova: Anenii Noi, Balti, Soroca, Glodeni, Causeni, Criuleni, Ungheni, Ialoveni, Stefan Voda, Orhei, Nisporeni, Rezina, Straseni cities, including 4 ones in Tiraspol city.

Minister Monica Babuc pointed out that Martişor would bring together famous artists and artistic groups from abroad, such as Ottawan (Germany), Afric Simone (Belgium), Academic Dance Ensemble "Virskii" (Ukraine), "Ricchi E Poveri" (Italy), Marcos Ayala (Argentina); "Anda Union" (China), Antonia&Alex Velea, Delia (Romania), "Samotsvety" (Russian Federation), "Mdzlevari" (Georgia), "Mirage" (Latvia), artists from Portugal, US.

Traditionally, the Festival brings to the audience the most famous artistic collections in Moldova: National Folk Dance Ensemble "Joc", Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic "S. Lunchevici", folk music orchestras "Lăutarii", "Folclor", "Fluieras", "Mugurel", "Concertino" accordion ensemble, "Alex Calancea Band", "Milenium".

The inauguration of International Music Festival Martisor – 2018 will take place at National Palace Nicolae Sulac, during a gala concert with artists Valentina Nafornita, Mariana Bulicanu, Inna Novac, Geta Burlacu, Cornelia and Marcel Stefanet, Dumitru Mitu, Viorica and Mihai Agafita, Igor Turcanu, Andrei Jilihovschi, Alexandra Conunova, Mdzlevari (Georgia), Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic "Serghei Lunchevici", AMTAP Jazz Orchestra, "Brio Sonores", Marcos Ayala etc.

Minister Monica Babuc also said that the echoes of Martisor would reach the Diaspora. Thus, there will be organized different cultural events: concerts, exhibitions, martisor arts sales’ workshops, evenings of creations, etc. in Paris, Lisbon, Madrid, Hague, Brussels, Athens, Bucharest and Barcelona cities.

The budget of Martisor Festival amounts to MDL 2.6 million.

The first issue of the International Music Festival Martisor took place at National Philharmonic in Chisinau, which founder was the late Alexandru Fedco, former director of the Philharmonic. The festival comes to enjoy the local audience with notorious names not only from Moldova, but also from all over the world, transforming Chisinau into a true cultural centre.
