Atlantic Council to support government’s efforts in implementing reform programme of Moldova

Chisinau, 02 March /MOLDPRES/ – The enlargement of the Moldovan – American dialogue, including implementation of joint projects within process of ensuring regional stability, process of implementation of reforms in Moldova and initiation of bilateral cooperation programmes were discussed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, representatives of the Atlantic Council:  vice – President Damon Wilson and Ambassadors Alexander Vershbow and John Herbst.

According to the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service info, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi mentioned the existence of an efficient dialogue between authorities of Moldova and Atlantic Council, together identifying a wide spectrum of sectoral collaboration within security field, judiciary and others, but also possibility to increase visibility of positive developments registered by Moldova at regional and international levels. "Due to this cooperation, Moldova has benefited support from Atlantic Council not only for formation of a positive image of the international transatlantic community, but also for implementation of strategies for reforming sectors of major importance for Moldova,” said Foreign Minister.

Tudor Ulianovschi also said that joining EU and taking over European best practices remain major objectives of foreign policy. "We will step up our efforts to bring Moldova’s European integration perspective closer to concrete and coherent approaches that fully meet expectations of our citizens and European partners," said the head of Moldovan diplomacy.

In this context, Atlantic Council Executive vice – President, Damon Wilson, praised recent positive developments in Moldova, noting government’s determination to implement key reforms into social, economic and political fields. "The Atlantic Council will continue to support the efforts of the Government of Moldova in implementation of Moldova‘s reform programme, being open to providing necessary expertise of all dimensions," said Damon Wilson.

The representatives of the Atlantic Council appreciated efforts of Moldovan authorities, together with other states, to create a viable regional security system allowing sustainable development of all states in the area. According to the representatives of Atlantic Council, Interparliamentary Conference: Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges is the first step in this direction, which can become an attractive platform for participation for other major actors in the region and the world.
