Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/- The touristic offer of Moldova is presented on 7 March at the most prestigious tourism fair in the world – ITB 2018, which is held in Berlin, Germany. Visitors are urged to venture into a virtual journey through our country to discover the largest underground galleries in the world, a great wine collection or simply enjoy a culinary workshop at a winery.

The first virtual reality platform, called “360 degrees”, highlights the potential of Moldova’s wine tourism and the event ended with a wine tasting.

“It is a privilege and an honor to represent my country at the prestigious tourism fair ITB 2018. Moldova has a flourishing wine sector with an impressive annual wine production. For example, in 2017, Moldova ranks 20th among the largest wine producing countries, and an important part is exported annually to EU countries. Our country has millenary traditions in the art of winemaking, deeply rooted in history and culture, and a quarter of the population is engaged in this field. Some wineries are found in the Guinness Book of Records, and others are the subject of the national cultural heritage,” Moldovan Ambassador to Germany Oleg Serebrian said.

For his part, director of the Travel Agency Stanislav Rusu said that Moldova is a unique tourist destination in Europe. “Every year, our country is becoming more attractive for foreign tourists, and the statistical data show that for six years the number has increased by almost 75 per cent. Recently the most representative magazines in the world have ranked the country in the top safest tourist destinations in the world,” Rusu said.

“Moldova is an unusual destination in the centre of Europe, which is why we chose to promote the tourist offer with the help of some unique activities. The launch of the virtual platform 360 .moldova.travel will allow any potential visitor to learn as much as possible about the hidden treasures of our country and will certainly attract as many foreign tourists as possible. We are glad that in less than four years, Moldova has grown increasingly in the tops of the countries recommended for foreign tourists,” Diana Lazar, deputy head of the competitiveness project, said.

Moldova is represented with a stand on an area of 65 square meters, the largest in the history of our country’s participation in the Berlin Exhibition. During the five days, the Moldovan delegation will promote the hospitality of the Moldovans through the #BeOurGuest campaign, especially the “Adopt a tourist” campaign, which gives the tourists the opportunity to experience authentic experiences and to discover the culture and traditions of Moldova.
