Moldovan government to provide grants to highlight human capital of diaspora

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/- The State Chancellery’s Diaspora Office (BRD) provides grants to citizens who are abroad within the governmental grant programme “Diaspora Engagement Hub” (DEH). The deadline for submitting applications is 15 March.

DEH is a thematic grant programme for Moldovan citizens from abroad and is supported by the Swiss gency for Development and Cooperation under the project “Strengthening institutional capacities of Moldova in migration and development”, 2nd stage. The aim of the programme is to support Moldovans from abroad in implementing their ideas in Moldova and to highlight the human capital of the diaspora.

“Diaspora Engagement Hub” includes three subprograms supporting several actions. It is about regional thematic partnerships with three grants of about 94,000 lei offered to the diaspora associations for carrying out regional, community, educational, health, social and economic actions.

At the same time, the empowerment of diaspora women will be supported, with five grants of about 94,000 lei offered to diaspora members to implement projects aimed at social, civic, legal and economic empowerment of women in the diaspora. Also, ten grants of about 38,000 lei will be provided for the professional return of the diaspora. Thus, the transfer of human capital and professional experience will be encouraged for the academic, social and economic development of Moldova through professional return in the short-term (2 weeks-2 months).

The project implementation deadline is 31 August 2018. The evaluation of the projects will take place in the second half of March.
