Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has announced public discussions for 16 March, to consider and approve  the regulated tariffs and prices for natural gas for 2018. According to the ANRE project, placed on the regulatory authority’s official webpage, the Moldovan residents might pay by over 20 per cent less for the gas bill.

At the public debates held last week, ANRE representatives proposed to reduce the gas tariff for end consumers by an average of 20.3 per cent to 4,420 lei for 1,000 cubic metres of gas (without value added tax (VAT)). The gas provider demanded an 11.4-per cent cut in the average tariff for end consumers, from 5,545 lei for 1,000 cubic metres of gas to 4,914.97 lei.

According to a draft decision by ANRE’s Administrative Board, due to be discussed at the meeting on 16 March, the tariff for gas supplied to household consumers for a volume up to 30 cubic metres (inclusively) is proposed to be established at 4,705 lei for 1,000 cubic metres of gas, against the tariff in force of 5,892 lei. The prices for natural gas at a consumption exceeding 30 cubic metres for a flat (house) is estimated at 4,895 lei, down by 1,243 lei against the current tariff of 6,138 lei for 1,000 cubic metres.

The VAT is not included in the tariff due to be approved. An eight-per cent value added tax, included in the bill, is levied at the supply of gas to final consumers.

The prices for the natural gas provided by Moldovagaz to thermal electric power stations and other holders of licences from the thermal and energy sector for the use in the regulated activity, under the project, is of 4,018 lei for 1,000 cubic metres, against 5,000 lei at present.

The tariff for the gas transportation service, provided by Moldovatransgaz Ltd company, is proposed to be decreased insignificantly, from 32.76 lei for 1,000 cubic metres to 32.32 lei.

The last change of the tariff was made on 26 January 2016, when the average tariff for end consumers was approved at 5,545 lei for 1,000 cubic metres of gas, decreasing by 677 le or 10.9 per cent against the tariff in force on the concerned period. The tariff for household consumers was decreased by 10.1 per cent.
