Moldovan PM demands permanent communication between specialized services, local authorities to prevent crisis situations

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today summoned the Commission for Emergency Situations to a meeting, given the bad weather. The participants in the meeting analyzed the present situation in terms of roads’ practicability in Moldova, ensuring the supply of all settlements with electric energy and measures to prevent crisis situations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

According to the latest information, all roads of Moldova are practicable, on certain segments, the traffic is more difficult because of the glazed frost and snow. The most difficult situation is on three road segments: Chisinau-Ungheni, Balti-Falesti-Sculeni and Edinet-Otaci. Mobile traction teams work on these segments, with more than ten lorries towed.     

Specialized services act in non-stop regime; over 250 special vehicles are involved and 1,550 tons of anti-skid material is distributed at present.

At the same time, five settlements from three districts and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia are disconnected from power supply; special intervention teams work to remedy the situation.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip stressed that, in the current conditions, a permanent communication and interaction between specialized services and local authorities was essential. ‘’It is very important that, from here, from the centre, we have connection with the local authorities and intervene where local forces are not enough to cope with this bad weather,’’ the PM said.

Pavel Filip demanded ensuring permanent informing of citizens, especially as regards the state of roads and increasing the number of police teams on Moldova’s roads, so that competent people may intervene quickly if needed. Also, companies in charge of supply with electric energy were asked to prove a prompt reaction to reconnect settlements to power supply. In the long run, the National Energy Regulatory Agency is to analyze possibilities of enhancing capacities of their intervention in such cases.
