All roads passable in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/- All roads of Moldova have been cleaned and are presently accessible and practicable. The head of the operative service of the State Roads’ Administration, Sergiu Capatina, made the statement today.

Works of patrolling, cleaning the snow and combating the ice were carried out on Moldova’s roads in the last night. ‘’As many as 363 special vehicles and almost 300 workers intervened. Roadmen used more than 1,632 tons of anti-skid material. All dangerous sectors are permanently monitored and interventions are made, if necessary,’’ Sergiu Capatina noted.   

The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, Liliana Puscasu, said that in the last 24 hours, the rescue and firemen teams intervened to tow the blocked means of transport. “32 actions were taken to unblock road vehicles in Rezina, Soldanesti, Ungheni, Dubasari, Hancesti, Gagauzia, Edinet, Aneii Noi, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, Criuleni, Telenesti, Cahul, Causeni and Chisinau. Among the unlocked vehicles there were six ambulances. Most actions of unlocking cars and trucks were recorded near villages Mereseni and Fundul Galbenei, Hancesti district,” Puscasu said.

All localities in the country are currently connected to electricity.

At the same time, the border police announced that this morning the Soroca-Tekinovka crossing point resumed its activity. The Cosauti-Iampoli remains inoperative.

The emergency situations management centre has set up emergency crisis cell in the context of difficult weather conditions. Also, at a meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip called for a permanent communication between the specialized services and local authorities for the prevention of crisis situations.

The State Hydrometeorological Service announced Yellow Code of sharp weather change, valid for 17-22 March. Meteorologists forecast snowfall, glazed frost, wind and waves of cold. The air temperatures of -2 degrees during the day and -8 degrees at night are expected in the coming days.
