German company Siemens to rehabilitate more transformer stations in Moldova within comprehensive project

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - The branch of the world famous company Siemens will rehabilitate 14 medium-voltage transformer stations all over Moldova, within a comprehensive project financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The contract on rehabilitation was signed with the Moldelectrica state enterprise, which selected the project’s contract on contest basis.   

This contract is the most comprehensive project on restoration of medium-voltage transformer stations, carried out by Siemens, and it is to be completed in two years after the starting of works, due to begin in the second quarter of 2018.

“By the implementation of this project, Moldelectrica will enhance the reliability of the supply of the consumers of the reconstructed stations; therefore, it is confident that Siemens, a company with a long history in the energy sector, will cope with the challenges of this project and will implement advanced technologies in Moldova,” the director general of the Moldelectrica state enterprise, Ghennadi Dimov, said.  

“We are sure than this project is just a first step for the energy industry of Moldova,” the country division lead energy management at Siemens Romania and Moldova, Petru Ruset, said.  

The Moldelectrica state enterprise is a company specialized in the centralization of transport and operative control services of Moldova’s energy system. With a history of 113 years in Romania, Siemens is presently running four factories and four research and development centres locally. Starting from the 2017 fiscal year, Siemens Ltd took over also the coordination of the German group’s sales activities in Moldova. The company has three strategic directions of development: electrification, automations and digitalization.
